Sainte-Chapelle

Sainte-Chapelle

Paris is home to a number of stunning churches.  Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur are absolutely worth visiting.  But the most breathtaking church in Paris is located in the shadow of Notre Dame: the relatively tiny Sainte-Chapelle.  It's not particularly striking from the outside, but the inside is covered with enormous stained glass windows, considered among the finest in the world.  It's best to go on a sunny day to take full advantage of the stained glass, but it's worth the visit regardless of weather.
Place du Trocadero

Place du Trocadero

Obviously, everyone who visits Paris wants to see the Eiffel Tower.  Most people look for the closest Metro stop and walk from there.  Those people are completely missing out.  Instead, take the Metro to the "Trocadero" stop and follow the "Tour Eiffel" signs up to the surface.  The Place is a giant open square with a stunning view of the tower.  Go ahead and take your pictures from the square; it's the best view of the Tower in the whole city.  Once you've done that, you can walk down the stairs and across the bridge toward the Tower.  It's a short walk, but a memorable one as the Tower rises before you.
Visit the Musee D'Orsay

Visit the Musee D'Orsay

When people think of Paris museums, the Louvre is the first to come to mind.  But D'Orsay is the best museum the city has to offer.  Whereas the Louvre's collection is spread across the enormous palace and takes days to explore,  D'Orsay is compact and can be completed in a morning.  The building itself is beautiful, a converted train station, and it's packed with recognizable pieces from Monet, Van Gogh and others.  If you're into museums, the Louvre is still definitely worth seeing.  But if you're making only one art-related stop in Paris, make it Musee D'Orsay.
